EFFINGHAM COUNTY — Authorities in Effingham are reporting a body was discovered in a local truck stop late this morning.

Effingham Police say they were notified by a citizen around 11 a.m. that a semi had been parked on the Pilot Truck Stop parking lot for some time. City police discovered a body inside the rig.

The Effingham County Coroner’s Office was called to the scene. Effingham Fire Department assisted with the investigation.

No names are being released at this time, pending the notification of next-of-kin. Foul play is not indicated at this time
