Cannon says Doris Ruth Wood died in the explosion that leveled her home on Laury Street in Odin.

According to Cannon, an extensive autopsy conducted Saturday showed Wood “suffered significant blunt force trauma associated with the primary blast force and secondary forces related to debris and structural collapse.”

The autopsy, says Cannon, showed it is apparent that Mrs. Wood died instantly. He notes that various law enforcement agencies along with utility commissions are investigating the incident along with the Marion County Coroner’s Office.

Day/Macz Funeral Home in Sandoval is assisting the family with arrangements.

A man in the home at the time of the explosion was airlifted from the scene with severe burns and trauma. He was taken to a St. Louis area hospital for treatment. His condition is unknown at this time.

The explosion is believed to have been caused by a gas leak and Ameren was called. Neighbors are reporting the explosion was felt across town and resulted in broken windows on nearby homes.
