SALEM — An altercation involving baseball bats Friday night in Salem sent three people to the hospital and two of them were later taken to jail.

According to police, 40-year-old Jeremy Dickerson, of Salem, went to his former apartment near the intersection of Washington and Rogers to check for his mail. An altercation ensued between Dickerson, a 16-year-old juvenile, and 35-year-old Craig Taylor, also of Salem.

The altercation reportedly escalated when a window of a vehicle was broken. The juvenile reportedly struck Taylor in the head with a baseball bat, and the juvenile reportedly suffered a broken arm after being struck with another bat. Dickerson was reportedly struck in the leg.

All three were taken to Salem Township Hospital for treatment of their injuries. Dickerson was later taken to the Marion County Jail on charges of mob action, aggravated assault, and disorderly conduct. He posted bond and was released.

The juvenile was arrested for aggravated battery, disorderly conduct and mob action.
