WASHINGTON COUNTY — Two men were arrested in Okawville this week, after being charged for placing a credit card skimming device on a gas station pump.

According to Okawville police, 20-year-old Ernesto Martinez and 44-year-old Yosvanis Napoles-Leon, both of Louisville, Kentucky, are facing charges of unlawful use of a scanning device, identity theft and using a forged credit or debit card at the Okawville Circle K gas station.

Bail for Martinez was set at $30,000, while bail for Napoles-Leon was set at $45,000. Both men were taken to the Washington County Jail where they posted bond and were released.

Okawville police report that one of the gas station’s pumps had failed last week, when a maintenance worker discovered a skimming device at the pump.

Police were called and they removed the device early on March 21st. A review of the station’s surveillance video showed two men installing the skimmer on March 19th.

The skimmer was taken down and placed under police custody, so the two men were never able to get to the skimmer.

Employees recognized the vehicle, a white GMC Yukon, and called police just after 4 p.m. Monday when the suspects came to the station.
