WHITE COUNTY — White County Sheriff Doug Maier announced Monday that three other individuals have been charged in aiding with the weekend escape of three inmates.

He says two women from Grayville, 46-year-old Wendi Owen, and 28-year-old Carly Schmittler, along with and 32-year-old Elijah Locher, of Crossville, are being held at the White County Jail. Maier reminds the public that any attempt to aid a fugitive can result in criminal charges.

The White County sheriff’s office says men matching the descriptions of 24-year-old Zachery Shock and 61-year-old Johnny Tipton were spotted Sunday night on Illinois 1 between the rural communities of Norris City and Omaha. Officers using a drone and search dogs weren’t able to find them.

Shock was awaiting trial for murder, while Tipton faced possession of stolen property charges.

The sheriff’s office says Shock, Tipton and 28-year-old Justin Bray used a pipe to break through an outside wall early Saturday of the jail in Carmi near the Indiana border. Bray was caught Saturday in an oil field tank.

Both Shock and Tipton are considered dangerous and should not be approached.

Anyone with information of their whereabouts should contact the White County Sheriff’s Department immediately at 618-382-5321 or their local law enforcement agency.
