Glen Ramey pleaded guilty earlier this year in Richland County court to predatory criminal sexual assault of Sabrina Stauffenberg in exchange for the dismissal of a charge of first-degree murder for her death. In March, Ramey was sentenced to 60 years in prison, the maximum possible sentence. He must serve 85-percent of that sentence.

In July, Ramey’s new attorney Tania Cullison appeared in court requesting transcripts of all prior proceedings and indicated Ramey might seek to withdraw his guilty plea, a motion which the court granted in September.

At a status hearing Friday, however, Ramey withdrew his motion to withdraw his motion to withdraw his guilty plea.

Ramey will be returned to the Department of Corrections to continue serving his sentence. Despite the sentencing guideline, as a sexually violent or sexually dangerous person he could be civilly incarcerated for an indefinite period following his prison term.

If he does gain release from prison, Ramey will have to register for life as a sexual predator. Sabrina’s body was found the day before Thanksgiving behind a vinegar plant on the south side of Olney.

According to prosecutors, Ramey suffocated Sabrina. Relatives told authorities they last saw her waiting on her front porch for a ride to church.
