Karim McGee was arrested in October 2017 in connection with one of a string of shooting incidents in Mt. Vernon.

Police had received the second of what would be three calls that October evening. That call came in just after 10 p.m. October 2, from the area of 23rd and Conger Streets where two people were shot. Investigators found evidence at the scene along with a firearm, narcotics, and cash. Both victims were treated and released from area hospitals.

McGee was arrested the following day and charged with Class 1 felony aggravated discharge of a firearm at an occupied structure or vehicle, and Class 2 felony being a felon in possession of a firearm with a prior conviction.

He pleaded guilty Wednesday to the Class 2 felony charge and was sentenced to 7-years in prison, with credit for 92 days served in the county jail.
