JEFFERSON COUNTY — Two people were transported to St. Louis area hospitals after a one-vehicle crash Sunday night in which they were ejected through the windshield of their pickup truck.

According to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, around 6:40 p.m. Sunday, a pickup truck driven by 39-year-old Daniel Morgan of Mt. Vernon was traveling on Miller Road north of Beal Road when he drifted off the shoulder before crossing back to the east side of the roadway and eventually off the road into two trees.

Morgan along with his 40-year-old front-seat passenger Sarah Morgan was ejected after the pickup hit the second tree on the front right side.

Daniel Morgan was initially taken to SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital and Sara Morgan was initially taken to Crossroads Community Hospital. Both were ultimately transferred to St. Louis area hospitals for treatment.

A 10-year-old boy and a 12-year-old boy sitting in the backseat of the truck were uninjured and were both restrained in their seats.
