(AP) — Robocalls continue to rise across the country and Illinois ranks in the top half of calls received.

According to a new Federal Trade Commission report, Illinois residents received 234,401 robocalls in 2019, which ranks 15th in the country per 100,000 people.

There were 1,823 robocall complaints/reports per 100,000 people in the state, according to the report.

Since 2015, Illinois residents have received 1,234,968 robocalls, which ranks 12th in the country per 100,000 people.

Nationwide, robocalls have seen an average annual increase of 14% since 2015, according to the report.

The Federal Trade Commission also reports people 60 and older across the country lost a total of $298 million in 2019 due to scams and fraud.
