According to The Wrap, Chloe Moretz, Elle Fanning and Oscar-nominated actress Hailee Steinfeld are among the teenage leading ladies being eyed to play young Jean Grey in Bryan Singer‘s “X-Men: Apocalypse,” while Ben Hardy, Charlie Rowe and Timothee Chalamet are under consideration for the role of young Cyclops.
Singer appears to be looking for a known actress to play Grey and a relatively unknown actor for Cyclops. The two have been members of the team since it launched in the 1960s. The younger versions were recently moved to the present day in the comics, as part of a story by Brian Michael Bendis.
Famke Janssen played Grey in five X-Men films, and Haley Ramm played a younger version in X-Men: the Last Stand. Cyclops was played by James Marsden in four films and by Tim Pocock in X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
Producer Simon Kinberg said Apocalypse will feature a younger version of Storm as well. It will also focus on the romance of Magneto (Michael Fassbender) and Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence). It will begin production in the spring for a May 27, 2016 release date. The last film, Days of Future Past, earned almsot $750 million worldwide.
