She was born March 26, 1927 in Peoria, the daughter of Albert and Hazel (Murphy) Johnson. She married James “Jim” Davis May 17, 1947 in Pocahontas. He passed October 26, 2000.
Survivors include six children, Sharon Cahill of Lincoln, Karen Merrick of Salem, Barbara Towler and husband Glenn Ray of Vernon, James A. Davis of Hoffman, Doris M. Reichert and husband Danny of Marion, and Steven Randal Davis of Centralia; three brothers Donald Johnson and wife Nancy of Creve Coure, James Johnson and wife Shirley of Hanna City, and Tom Johnson of East Peoria; 14 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters Virginia Mums, Dorothy Miller, Frances Clark and Carole Barnahan; and three brothers LeRoy, Robert, and George Johnson.
Betty enjoyed crocheting, making afghans and crafts, and raising her dogs.
Graveside services will be 11 p.m. Friday, October 18, 2013 at Patoka Cemetery with Rick Fouts officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Patoka Fire and Ambulance Services.
