Emma Lutz

picture-pubSANDOVAL — Emma Catherine Lutz, 80, of Sandoval passed away Thursday, January 23, 2014 at Odin HealthCare Center. She was born the daughter of Clifford Cook and Frances (Just) Cook Boothman on March 5, 1933 in Sandoval. She married Carl Dean Lutz in 1950 and they later divorced.

Emma is survived by daughter, Carlotte Deann Hoffmann of Salem; two sons, Carl Dean Lutz, Jr. wife, Linda of Sandoval and Carlos Dee Lutz, wife Sherri of Salem; stepson George Lutz, wife Sue of Irvington; 12 grandchildren, Jeff Hoffmann, Amy (Hoffmann) Thompson, Justin Hoffmann, Tanya Lutz, Michael Lutz, Nathan Lutz, Tamatha (Lutz) Casburn, Shane Lutz, and Shannon (Lutz) La Rose; six step-grandchildren, Jaime Butts, Kyle Butts, Aime Sigrist, Greg, Jeff, and Michael Lutz; 29 great-grandchildren; step-dad Richard Boothman; four brothers Clifford “Chuck” Cook of Sandoval, Sam Cook, wife Carol of Kentucky, Victor Cook, wife Mary of Sandoval, Richard Boothman, Jr. of South Carolina; sister Edith Gansauer, husband Bob of Centralia; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Carl, Jim, and Bill Cook, sister Constance (Cook) Uhls.

Emma was a professional cleaner of the Colonial Golf Course and Banks Bowl, caretaker at the Kaskaskia Workshop, and catered many weddings over the years. She retired to enjoy life at Carlyle Lake, feeding birds, crocheting, and growing flowers. She enjoyed a very good life.

Services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at Day Macz Funeral Home in Sandoval. Father Patrick Peter will officiate with burial following at Peaceful Valley Cemetery in Odin.

Friends may call from 4 – 7 p.m. on Monday, January 27, 2014 at Day Macz Funeral Home in Sandoval.
