SANDOVAL — Marilyn J. Oehmke, 82, of Sandoval, died Sunday, February 2, 2014 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born on July 9, 1931 in Centralia, the daughter of Fred and Catherine (Todd) Smith. She married Robert D. Oehmke on June 29, 1955 at St. Mary’s Church in Centralia.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Oehmke of Sandoval; seven children Chris Oehmke and wife Erin of Centralia, Mitch Oehmke and wife Laura of Effingham, Doug Oehmke and wife Miranda of Sandoval, Theresa Rudolph and husband Mark of Junction City, Marcus Oehmke and wife Cora of Sandoval, Sarah Monken and husband Tim of Centralia, and Fred Oehmke of Los Angeles, Calif.; seven grandchildren Kyle Oehmke, Brian Oehmke and wife Jessica, Stacie Oehmke, Katie Oehmke, Connor Oehmke, Marilinda Oehmke and Tressa Rudolph; three step-grandchildren Larry Duncan II and wife Kyra, Cory Duncan and Christina Smith; two great-grandchildren Robbie and Emily Oehmke; eight step-great-grandchildren Marisa, Julien, Lexia, Lydia, Temperance Duncan, Kacie Watson, Liam and Kybrick Duncan.
She was preceded in death by her parents Fred and Catherine Smith, son Gregory, and sister Carol Sherrock.
Marilyn was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved to camp, laugh, have fun, and have family gatherings. She was a faithful member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church, a PSR Instructor, past president of the St. Monica’s Altar Sodality, Marion County Right to Life, a 52 year member and past president of the Sandoval Women’s Club, served as Sandoval Township Clerk, a 30 year member of the Crazy 8 Card Club and Lazy 8 Card Club, and active in the Relay for Life and Alzheimer’s Association, a long time season ticket holder of the St. Louis Cardinals and a very avid fan.
Marilyn was a longtime resident of Sandoval. She worked at Little Fuse and was the owner of Unique Sewing Center and Champion Cleaners. She had sold Tupperware & Act II Jewelry. .
Funeral Mass for Marilyn will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, February 6, 2014 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Sandoval with Father Justin Olisaemeka officiating the services. Burial will follow at St. Lawrence Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 – 8 p.m. with a Rosary to follow at 8 p.m. Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at Day Macz Funeral Home in Sandoval. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Lawrence Catholic Cemetery or the St. Monica’s Alter Sodality.
