Brandon Helgen

VERNON — Brandon Gregory Helgen, 16, of Vernon passed away July 1, 2014. He was born the son of Gregory Helgen and Hazel Webb on September 5, 1997. picture-pub

He is survived by his mother Hazel D. Perkins and step-dad Gary of Vernon; father Gregory Helgen and step-mother Sadie of East Alton; half-brothers Corey Helgen of Virginia, Andy Roemer and Bobbi Brown of East Alton; half-sisters Brittney McMillin of Vernon, and Carrie Roemer of East Alton; two nephews Derrick Brown, Logan Roemer; two nieces Izzabelle Ackerman, Kylah Brown; paternal step-grandfathers Delmar Helgen and Francis Weishaupt; maternal step-grandpa Francis Perkins; and paternal step-grandma Mary Ehlers.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents Andy and Dolly Webb;, Wanda Helgen, Anna Weishaupt, Paul Perkins, and Charles Ehlers.

Brandon was a member of the track team, W.Y.S.E., treasurer for the sophomore class, and scholar bowl. He desired to become a pilot someday. He enjoyed playing on the computer and video games; fishing and hunting with his dad and  grandpa. He was also a High Honor Roll Student.

Services will be held 12 p.m. Saturday, July 5, 2014 at the Patoka Baptist Church with Rev. David Rogers officiating.

Visitation will be 10 – 12 p.m. on Saturday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Patoka School District.
