Burl D. Brumfield

VERNON — Burl D. Brumfield, 71, of Vernon passed away Tuesday, November 11, 2014 at his home surrounded by his family. picture-pub

He was born the son of Raymond Francis and Eva Lucille (Knutt) Brumfield on March 16, 1943. He married Shirley Lawson on September 26, 1964 in Vernon. She preceded him in death on May 29, 2013.

Survivors include his daughter Angie Gathe and  husband David of Vernon; brother-in-law Bob Thalman of Vernon; sister-in-law Carol Brumfield of Madison, Wisc.; step-grandchildren Clayton Gathe and wife Brandi, Andrea Gathe and fiancee Mark Meadows; and step-great-grandchild Payton Gathe all of Vandalia; nephews Kenneth Brumfield and Kelly Brumfield of Bonnie; niece Pam Crawford and husband Ron of Vernon; and special friends Max and Kathy Ehrat and Rebecca Zimmerman of Vernon.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his sister Virginia Thalman, brother Bill Brumfield, and nephew Kevin Brumfield.

Burl worked as a farmer until his retirement. He enjoyed deer and quail hunting, training bird dogs and restoring Oliver tractors. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Visitation for Mr. Brumfield will be held from 9 until 11 a.m. Saturday, November 15, 2014 at Day Macz Funeral Home in Patoka.Graveside services will follow at Vernon Cemetery with Pastor David Rodgers officiating.
