Centralia PD reporting crime down in 2014

Doug KrutsingerCENTRALIA — According to Centralia Police Chief Doug Krutsinger, arrests in the city were down for 2014 due to lower crime.

Total adult arrests were down from 1,123 in 2013 to 1,023 in 2014, and total juvenile arrests dropped from 162 to 119.

There were 112 adult drug arrests in 2014, compared to 138 in 2013, while adult warrant arrests were down from 470 to 440.

Criminal sex crimes were up, however, from nine in 2013 to 15 in 2014, and robberies were up from seven to 11.

Assault and battery and aggravated assault and battery were up slightly, from 150 to 170, but burglaries dropped significantly from 237 to 162.

In non-criminal incidents, city ordinance violations jumped from 258 to 368, and total traffic citations were down significantly from 1,759 in 2013 to 1,283 in 2014.

Traffic accidents, however, were up from 560 in 2013 to 606 in 2014.

In total, Centralia Police responded to 31,792 calls in 2014.
