He was born the son of Floyd L. and Stella M. (Meyer) Britt on June 27, 1937 in Patoka. He married Betty Jane (Barnick) Goldsboro at the Patoka Christian Church on August 17, 1969.
Survivors include his wife; Betty Britt of Patoka; son Greg Goldsboro and wife Janet of Patoka; daughters Sherry Stephens and husband Dewey of Patoka, and Christy Lutz and husband Mike of Maryville; grandchildren Erin Molly Walsh of Mt. Zion, Andy Goldsboro and wife Becky of Patoka, Nathan Riley, Sydney Stephens and Jacob Stephens of Patoka, Audrey Lutz and Sophia Lutz of Maryville; great-grandchildren Kallie Walsh of Mt. Zion and Maybree Goldsboro of Patoka; sister Lois Hill and husband Bill of Patoka; brother Larry Britt and wife Sharon of Patoka; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by both of his parents; Floyd and Stella Britt, and brother James Britt.
After graduating from Patoka High School in 1955, Charlie served two years in the U.S. Army before returning to Patoka to farm his entire life. He was a 25 year member of Patoka Fire Department, and a lifelong member of the Patoka Christian Church, also serving as an elder and deacon. He enjoyed spending time with his family — which meant the world to him. He also enjoyed visiting at the coffee shop and could often be seen mowing his lawn.
Visitation for Charles will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday May 22, 2014 at the Patoka Christian Church and one-hour prior to the funeral service.
Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday May 23, 2014 at the Patoka Christian Church. Burial will follow at the Patoka Cemetery with the Patoka American Legion Post 553 and Military Funeral Honors Team performing military funeral rites.
