She was born July 12, 1925 in Allendale, to Arthur and Della (Payne) Densmore. She was raised in Centralia where her father was a barber. She attended Irving School and graduated from Centralia High School, Class of 1943. As a young adult she worked as a bookkeeper at Fair Furniture, Automatic Phonograph, and Valjean Burgess Accounting before establishing her own bookkeeping and tax service which she operated from her own home for over 40 years. She enjoyed serving many small business and farm clients in the Centralia area, continuing to work until the age of 87 when her vision was impaired by a stroke.
She was married to Richard Chambers, from1947-1954 and Leroy Collins from 1954-1977. She had a special relationship with Loren “Buck” Rohrbaugh for over 20 years until his death in 2002.
She is survived by her children, Kella Marchal of Alton, Elizabeth Goldberg and husband Craig of West Chester, Pa., Patricia Slater of Tell City, Ind., and Charles Collins of Sturgis, Mich.; her grandchildren, Shawn Cornell of Denver, Colo., Noah Marchal and husband Lihui of Columbia, Mo., Jennifer Marchal and husband Brad of Columbia, Dr. Brittany Goldberg of Hyattsville, Md., Hannah Fusco and husband Brian of Wilmington, Del.; one great-grandchild, Rhiannon Cornell and was expecting a second great-grandchild at the time of her death; her sister, Ramona Furgerson of Canton; nieces, nephews and many dear friends from Conservation Club Lake, especially Ralph and Linda Tippett, and from Patoka Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Priscilla Kay Collins, and her brother Ray Densmore.
At her request, there was no funeral. Interment is at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Centralia at 11 a.m. Friday, January 2, 2015.
