MARION COUNTY — Patty Brough, Marion County Supervisor of Assessments, has announced the 2015 homestead renewal forms and senior assessment freeze forms have been mailed as of today.
Senior citizens who are, or will be, 65 years of age or older in 2015, and are owners of record, responsible for paying property taxes and occupy the property as their principal residence, are eligible for the homestead exemption regardless of income. This is a $5,000 reduction in assessed value.
Seniors who meet the requirements and have lived at their property as of January 2, 2025, and who have a total household income of $55,000 or less may be eligible for the homestead freeze exemption.
If eligible recipients don’t receive a renewal form within the next week, forms may be picked up at the Assessments Office in the Marion County courthouse, or by calling 548-3854.
New applicants should go to the Assessment Office to apply.
