Wanda May Branum

PATOKA — Wanda May Branum, 89, of Patoka, passed away June 22, 2014 at the Centralia Manor.

She was born the daughter of Fay and Dora Mae (Marckley) Flanagan on May 1, 1925 in Odin. She married Donald Branum on September 3, 1944 in Tamora. He preceded her in death on March 19, 1998.

Survivors include her son Joe Branum, wife Rhonda of Carbondale; grandchildren Faye Alicia Branum of St. Louis and Renee Cherie Branum of Carbondale; and sister Jeane Brown of Patoka.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, brother Donald F. Flanagan in 1987.

Mrs. Branum was an office manager for the McMahon Furniture for 25 years in Southern California. She was a member of the Patoka Christian Church. She served her church as a treasurer, librarian, and Sunday school teacher. She enjoyed painting, making homemade cards, flower gardening, traveling, and had a constant stream of visitors to her apartment.

Mrs. Branum donated her body to the Southern Illinois University School of Medicine. Day Macz Funeral Home in Patoka is in charge of arrangements.

A celebration of life service will be held 1 p.m. July 26, 2014 at the Patoka Christian Church.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Patoka Christian Church or the Oil Belt Christian Camp.
