SALEM — Extremely cold temperatures, combined with a lot of water, made for a long night for Salem firefighters responding to a call last night on Quail Run road, just west of County Farm Road.
The first officer on scene reported the front half of mobile home was fully involved, with the fire quickly moving through the entire attic and venting out the rear and roof of the home.
No one was inside the home when firefighters arrived on the scene. A neighbor made the call to 9-1-1 around 10:40 p.m.
Due to extensive flames in the ceiling and attic areas, firefighters did not enter the structure until all the fire was under control.
The roof of the home did burn through and ultimately collapsed, as did much of the floor. While the home was a complete loss, firefighters were able to save some of the family’s belongings and no injuries were reported.
Odin and Iuka were dispatched to the scene for manpower and to assist in a tanker shuttle. Kell was dispatched to the Salem station to cover the district in case of more calls.
