SANDOVAL — Dennis Leon Wilkes, 51, of Sandoval, and formerly of Odin, passed away Saturday, February 14, 2015, in Sandoval.
Mr.Wilkes is survived by two daughters, Marry Despres and husband Omar of Patoka, and Tina Wilkes of Sandoval; son Brock Huelskamp of Carlyle; eight grandchildren, Brantley, Hope, Hunter, Savannah, Mady, Paiten, Leah, and Rebecca; brothers and sisters, Beaulah Crunk of Odin, James Wilkes and wife Patricia of Memphis, Tenn., Joyce Owen of St. Peters, Robert Wilkes and wife Joan of Mt. Vernon, Shirley Pinkowski of Odin, Wilma Wilkes of Sandoval, Ronnie Jourdan of Sandoval, Kathy Alcorn and husband Craig of Irvington, Linda Lemarr of Salem, Leonard Wilkes of Sandoval; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Gerald and Ken Wilkes; and brother- in-law Terry Pinkowski.
He worked in the oil fields as journeyman. He was member of Goose Creek Oil in Salem. He loved spending time with his grandchildren. He enjoyed playing pool, chess, and fishing. He enjoyed spending time outdoors finding arrowheads and Indian beads. He loved to hunt mushrooms.
Memorial Service will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, February 19, 2015 at Irvin Funeral Home in Odin. Cremation rites will follow after service.
Friends may call on Thursday evening from 4-7 pm at the funeral home.
