EFFINGHAM COUNTY — The Effingham Planning Commission has approved a 90-acre site plan for the construction of a
seed company’s new distribution center.
Beck’s Hybrids Distribution and Research wants to build a 96,356-square-foot on city-owned property in Effingham Business Park. The company plans to employ about 30 people at the distribution center and also test plots on the surrounding farm ground.
The Effingham Daily News reports city officials have been working with Beck’s Hybrids to help move the project forward. Officials have been involved in planning the proper roadway infrastructure for the facility and securing grants to fund the project.
Building Official Bruce Devall told commissioners on Tuesday that the site plan meets requirements for parking, sewer, water and water detention on the property.
