Mt. Vernon man sentenced to federal prison on drug charges

BENTON — A 28-year-old Mount Vernon man has been sentenced in Federal Court on crack cocaine related  prisoncharges.

Kenez K. Parks was sentenced to 13 1/2 years in federal prison on the illegal drug charges, according the United States Attorney for the Southern District of Illinois.

Parks had previously pleaded guilty to three counts in a federal indictment.

Parks was charged with distributing crack cocaine in Jefferson County in 2013.

The investigation was conducted by the Joint Narcotics Unit of the Mt. Vernon Police Department and the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department.
