JEFFERSON COUNTY — A 36-year-old Mt. Vernon man has been sentenced in Jefferson County court to 8-years in the Illinois Department of Corrections, after he pleaded guilty Tuesday to manufacturing methamphetamine.
Harry Mulkey pleaded guilty to a Class 1 felony charge of manufacturing less than 15 grams of meth, while three other charges of possessing meth, possessing meth manufacturing materials and possession of a hypodermic syringe were dismissed per the plea agreement.
In addition to the prison sentence, Mulkey was ordered to pay nearly $2,400 in fines and fees.
In two separate cases, Mulkey was found guilty of Class 3 felony possession of less than 5-grams of meth. He was sentenced in those cases to 30 months conditional discharge and was ordered to pay combined fines and fees of $1,861.   
 
The Marion County Coroner’s Office is currently investigating the death of a 51-year-old Walnut Hill man who was discovered deceased in his home Monday morning.
