BENTON — A 22-year-old Mt. Vernon man has been indicted by a federal grand jury on a two count indictment charging him with drug and firearm crimes.

Torence D. Jones was indicted on March 3, 2015 in Count 1 with possession with intent to deliver crack cocaine. Count 2 is for possessing a firearm with the serial number removed, obliterated, or altered.

The investigation leading up to the federal indictment was conducted by the Mount Vernon Police Department and Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office joint Narcotics Division.

The case was presented by Assistant United States Attorney George Norwood under the office of United States Attorney Stephen Wigginton for the Southern District of Illinois.
