Mt. Vernon man indicted by federal grand jury

BENTON — A 25-year-old Mt. Vernon man has been indicted by a federal grand jury on a four-count indictment charging him with armed robbery.
David WeathallDavid D. Weathall was indicted March 3, 2015 in Count 1 for robbery of Huck’s at 540 Fairfield Roadd while brandishing a firearm.
Count 2 is for brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence from Count 1. Count 3 is for a robbery at Biggies Café on Illinois Highway 161 in Centralia while brandishing a firearm. Count 4 is for brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence from Count 3.

The investigation leading up to the federal indictment was conducted by the Mount Vernon Police Department, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, Marion County Sheriff’s Office, and Centralia Police Department.
The case was presented by Assistant United States Attorney George Norwood under the office of United States Attorney Stephen Wigginton for the Southern District of Illinois.
