FRANKLIN COUNTY — A Franklin County man accused of murdering his wife at their West Frankfort home last March has pleaded guilty.
Franklin County State’s Attorney Evan Owens told WSIL-TV that 65-year-old John Adams entered an open plea just before noon Monday to two counts of murder.
Adams was charged in the shooting death of 52-year-old Kendra Adams. Police were called to the couple’s home on March 31 of last year.
Investigators said Kendra Adams had been shot in the back of the head. She died the next day at an Evansville hospital. Adams’ trial began last Tuesday in Franklin County.
Owens says the prosecution was wrapping up the presentation of its case when the plea came down. A status hearing in the case will be held in April.
