The Illinois Department of Employment Security has released the results of the January unemployment rates and rates in Marion County went up.

Unemployment in Marion County is the 12th worst in the state for January, up to 7.8 from 6.9. The seasonally unadjusted January rate for Clinton County went up from 4.4 in December to 5.5 in January; one of the largest increases, but it still remains the 5th lowest rate in the state.

In Jefferson County the rate went up from 6.4 to 7.1 in January, that’s down from 9.1 a year ago. Washington County is at 4.5, which up from 3.8 the month before, it is still the 2nd lowest unemployment rate in the state.

The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for the state in January is at 6.1 percent, down from 6.2 from the previous month. The nation’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate is at 5.7 for January, up from 5.6 in

The middle percentage for the state is at 7.0 for the month. For the month of December there was one county at 9 percent, but in January there were six at 9 percent or over, while only two were below 5 percent for the month.
