CENTRALIA — The offices of SAFE are looking for people who are good listeners and want to help make the world a better place by offering support to those who have been affected by sexual assault.

The offices of Sexual Assault and Family Emergencies will be offering 40-hours of training for volunteers in Bond, Clay, Clinton, Effingham, Fayette, Jefferson, Marion, Washington and Wayne counties.

Volunteers will be trained to cover SAFE’s 24-hour hotline with staff support and should expect to travel to all three SAFE offices in Centralia, Effingham and Vandalia for training.

This is a great opportunity for social service college students, retired individuals, or someone just wanting to help others and get hands-on experience.

S.A.F.E. is a non-profit organization offering confidential, free services to victims and those affected by sexual violence.

Services include medical and legal advocacy, crisis intervention, educational prevention programs, information and referral, and counseling.
