KEYESPORT — Margaret Grace (Schmidt) Hughes, 93, of Keyesport, passed away at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 23, 2015 at her home in Keyesport.
Mrs. Hughes is preceded in death by her son Philip Wayne Hughes; stepson Jerry Wayne Hughes and wife Victorina Matanane Hughes; brothers Sumner Berry and wife Alvina Marie (Peck) Schmidt; sister Wilmouth Aliene and husband Phillip Maddox.
She is survived by her four grandchildren Donna Matanane of Keyesport; Sarah and Tim Bierman of Centralia; Timothy and Marylou Hughes of Federal Way, Wash.; Kevin and Raquel Hughes of Pacific, Wash.; four great-grandchildren Christiana and Tristan Bierman of Centralia; Zakkary and Timothy Hughes Jr. of Federal Way; nieces and nephews- Phyllis Rose and Gilbert Logan of Centralia; Charles Richard Maddox of Centralia; Patricia Arend of Evansville, Ind.; and cousin; John Nelson and Donna Wood of Mt. Vernon.
She worked as beauty operator before she married and then traveled extensively with her husband establishing oil refineries throughout the U.S. In 1982 they retired in El Dorado, Ark., and in 2007 she relocated to Keyesport. She was a Southern Baptist.
Visitation service will be held at 4-7 p.m. .Friday, March 27, 2015 at Irvin Funeral Home in Centralia.
Friends may call on Friday at time of service and are asked to meet at funeral home.
For those who wish, in lieu of flowers memorials may be made to a scholarship fund being established in her name or to the Nursing Education Center at Kaskaskia College, and will be accepted at the Irvin Funeral Home in Centralia, who is in charge of arrangements.
