Leroy Knolhoff

CENTRALIA — Leroy C. Knolhoff., 92, of Centralia, passed away at 5:48 a.m. on Sunday, March 29, 2015 at St. Mary’s Good Samaritan Hospital in Centralia.

Knohloff picHe was born on November 28, 1922 in Centralia, the son of Louis and Amelia (Huge) Knolhoff. Leroy married Veneda (Perkins) Knolhoff on October 30, 1945 in Centralia, and she still survives in Centralia.

Mr. Knolhoff is survived by his wife; one son Douglas Knolhoff and wife Kelly of Centralia; two daughters, Joyce Knolhoff Frana and husband Tom of Ft. Myers Beach, and Nancy Knolhoff Oldfield and husband Mike of Ft. Myers, Fla.; brother Louis Earl “Hap” Knolhoff of Centralia; seven grandchildren Lisa Orlando and husband Vince of St. Peters, Mo., D.J. Adams and wife Theresa of O’Fallon, Mo., Aaron Oldfield and wife Jenna of St. Charles, Mo., Cortnee Oldfield of St. Peters, Mo., Kurt Knolhoff and wife Melissa of Centralia, Chad Knolhoff and wife Tricia of Irvington, Angie Wettstein and husband Paul of Mt. Sterling; 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers Edwin, Melvin, and Lester V. Knolhoff; and sister Selma Halstenberg.

He worked at Kas Potato Chip as supervisor. He also worked at Mother’s Bakery. He retired from Winning Edge. He was member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He was vice chairman elder for Couple’s Club. He was Sunday school teacher for bible school. He was a member of American Legion. He enjoyed fishing and traveling.

He served in the United States Army in World War II from January 1943 to December 31, 1945.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 2 , 2015 Trinity Lutheran Church interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park with Pastor Mark Girardin and Pastor Perry Schefelker officiating. Military rites will be accorded by American Legion Post #446 & V.F.W. Post #2055.

Friends may call on Thursday from 10-11 a.m. at the church.

For those who wish, memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church or Christ Our Rock Lutheran High School, and will be accepted at the Irvin Funeral Home in Centralia, who is in charge of arrangements.
