MARION COUNTY — A 31-year-old Centralia man was sentenced Tuesday in Marion County court to 5-years in the Illinois Department of Corrections after he pleaded guilty to felony residential burglary.
Gerald Murphy was scheduled for a pretrial hearing in the case charging him with Class 1 felony residential burglary. He was initially arrested in connection with the January burglary of a home on Copple Road in Centralia.
In addition to the 5-year prison sentence, Murphy will have to serve 2-years mandatory supervised release and has been recommended for drug treatment.
Judge Mark Stedelin denied a defense request for fulough prior to Murphy being transported to the Department of Corrections.
