Charleston man sentenced to 10 years for Centralia armed robbery

EAST ST. LOUIS — A 26-year-old Charleston man was sentenced Thursday in Marion County Court to 10 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections, after he pleaded guilty to the armed robbery of a Centralia convenience store.
Travis Cuppy pleaded guilty to pulling a knife December 28th on a clerk of the Casey’s General Store on East Noleman in Centralia, ordering her to give him all the money. Cuppy then fled on foot.
He was ultimately arrested after confessing the crime to his girlfriend. After viewing surveillance video of the robbery, the girlfriend and her mother confirmed the man seen in the video was Cuppy.
In addition to the 10-year prison term, Cuppy was ordered to serve two years parole upon his release. He was given credit for 94 days served in the Marion County Jail.
