JOHNSTON CITY — Strong winds ripped the roof off of a Johnston City building Thursday night.
Authorities were called out to to the Southern Mold building on Follis Avenue just before 11, after a downed power line was reported on the property.  When they arrived they found the roof ripped off.
Construction was underway to replace the old roof on the building.  Johnston City Assistant Fire Chief says the new roof wasn’t boxed in yet, making it easier for the strong winds to blow it off.
Storms across Illinois last night are responsible for wide-spread damage and at least two deaths in the northern Illinois community of Fairdale.
