Benton man charged with impersonating a police officer

FRANKLIN COUNTY –A 23-year-old Benton man is in jail on charges he impersonated a police officer.

According to sheriff’s reports, Benton police officers responded to the 1200 block of Glendale Sunday on a report of a suspicious person. They arrested Robert Zeth Montgomery on charges of aggravated battery and impersonating a peace officer.

He was taken to the Franklin County Jail, where he remains awaiting formal charges and the setting of bail.

Montgomery was charged last year in Franklin County with felony aggravated battery of a peace officer. He pleaded guilty in October to an amended and lesser charge of domestic battery and a misdemeanor charge of resisting arrest was dismissed per the plea agreement.
