JOHNSTON CITY — One person is dead following a crash on Tuesday night on Interstate 57 near Johnston City.

The accident happened around 9:45 p.m. Tuesday at the mile post 59 entrance ramp to the interstate.

According to Illinois State Police, 41-year-old James Randolph, of Christopher, was merging onto I-57 northbound on his motorcycle as two semis were passing the ramp.

Investigators say Randolph pulled out in front of one semi in the right lane, then moved into the left lane where he hit the trailer of the second semi.

Randolph was thrown from the motorcycle and was then hit by the first semi.  

The drivers of the two semis were not charged. Illinois State Police continue to investigate.
