EAST ST. LOUIS — The United States Attorney for the Southern District of Illinois, Stephen R. Wigginton, announced Wednesday that on April 14, 2015, 38-year-old Louis R. Dochwat, of Granite City, was sentenced to more than 15 years in federal prison for Distribution of Methamphetamine and Conspiracy to Distribute Methamphetamine. Upon release from prison, Dochwat will also be required to complete a term of 3 years on supervised release.

At his change of plea hearing in December, Dochwat admitted selling methamphetamine to a DEA informant in Granite City on three separate occasions in 2013 and 2014. In total, Dochwat sold approximately three quarters of an ounce of methamphetamine for $2,000.00.

Because of his substantial criminal record, Dochwat was sentenced to 188 months in prison as a “career offender.” Dochwat has been continuously confined in federal custody since his arrest in October, 2014.

The investigation which resulted in Dochwat’s arrest and conviction was conducted by the Drug Enforcement Administration.
