EAST ST. LOUIS — A St. Louis man has been ordered to spend a decade in federal prison for his role in two southern Illinois bank holdups in 2013.
Thirty-nine-year-old Altonio Graves was sentenced Friday in East St. Louis on two counts of bank robbery, as well as one count each of conspiracy to commit bank robbery and being a felon with a firearm.
Authorities say Graves wore a black wig when he robbed the Laclede Community Credit Union in Alton and a People’s Bank and Trust branch in Altamont.
Shortly after the Altamont holdup, Graves and his alleged getaway driver were arrested after a police chase that involved speeds exceeding 120 miles per hour.
That alleged accomplice has pleaded guilty and awaits sentencing.
Graves’ background includes a 1998 conviction of second-degree murder.
