JEFFERSON COUNTY — In light of a recent court ruling in its favor, the Village of Dix will be enforcing its alcohol-related ordinances, with the help of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.

The ordinances in question prohibit the possession or consumption of alcoholic liquor on public property, at public places and within businesses operating as a public accommodation..

The court’s ruling came in response to a suit filed by Foxxxy Ladyz, an adult entertainment club in Dix that offers fully nude dancing and is a “BYOB” establishment that allows customers to bring their own alcoholic beverages.

One of the two ordinances addresses such establishments, saying, “BYOB”, “brown bag”, bottle clubs, and set up establishments are prohibited. Any person who violates the Ordinances is subject to a fine of not less than $100.00.

Chief Deputy Clint Taylor says the goal of the sheriff’s office, along with the village’s is not to write tickets, but to gain compliance by educating people about the ordinance.
