FRANKLIN COUNTY — Second Judicial Circuit Chief Judge Tom Tedeschi announced Thursday that the Franklin County Juvenile Detention Center Methamphetamine Treatment Program will be suspended effective May 15. Tedeschi says he can no longer commit resources to the program without receiving the appropriated funding for the project.

The Illinois Criminal Justice Information Authority notified Tedeschi’s office on March 4 that the remainder of grant funding  – $265,000 – allocated for the program’s operation was suspended indefinitely.

Then on March 26, funding for the program was reaffirmed when a supplemental appropriations bill for this fiscal year became law.

Tedeschi says since the suspended funding and information concerning the status of the remaining funding has not been provided to the Second Circuit of Illinois, he decided to suspend the program.
