Man found shot following Aviston armed robbery

AVISTON — Aviston police are investigating a weekend armed robbery that left a man with a gunshot wound in his lower leg.

According to a press release, the Clinton County Sheriff’s Department received a 911 call around 5:40 Saturday morning of an armed robbery on South Hull Street in Aviston.

A 27-year-old man was found with a gunshot wound to his lower leg. He was transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Breese for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Clinton County Sheriff’s deputies, Aviston, Trenton, Breese, and New Baden police, along with the Illinois State Police responded to the scene.

Aviston police are conducting the investigation, and will release further information at a later time.
