MARION COUNTY — An Odin teacher being investigated for having sex with her students has resigned, according to Marion County State’s Attorney Matt Wilzbach.

Wilzbach says two 17-year-old boys have alleged they had sex with their Odin High School teacher who resigned Sunday amid the allegations.

According to Wilzbach, the investigation was launched after the parents of one of the boys took the information to school board member, who gave the information to Superintendent Mike Conlon. Conlon met with the parents on Sunday, and the teacher resigned that same day.

On Monday, the parents of the second boy filed a complaint with the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, with allegations being leveled that the teacher and the boy had been photographed while having sex.

While the acts appear to have been consensual, it is unclear how long the sexual relationships with the teacher had been ongoing. Any charges would then be dependent upon the ages of the boys.

Marion County Sheriff’s deputies executed multiple search warrants Thursday morning to see if they could corroborate the information the boys provided investigators.

The case remains under investigation, with no decisions yet made regarding possible criminal charges, so the name of the teacher is not being released at this time. She had taught at the school for 11 years, and had recently been considered for a raise and promotion. A substitute teacher has been assigned to the class fort the remainder of the school year.

This is the second time Odin school has been the focus of an investigation involving allegations of sex between a teacher and a student. In 2011 Kelly Ebmeyer pleaded guilty to criminal sexual assault and aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a 15-year-old female student, who ultimately became pregnant.
