EAST ST. LOUIS (AP) — The ex-fiancee of a deputy U.S. marshal gunned down during a 2011 house raid faces up to 40 years in federal prison after admitting in court that she drained thousands of dollars from a charity event held in the slain man’s honor.
Pamela Robtoy of Belleville pleaded guilty Wednesday in East St. Louis to mail and wire fraud charges.
John Perry was fatally shot while helping serve a warrant at the St. Louis home of ex-convict Carlos Boles. Boles died in a shootout after also wounding two other law enforcers.
An indictment accused Pamela Robtoy of stealing funds from a 2013 golf benefit. Those proceeds were to have gone to charities that offer financial support to families of marshals, police, firefighters, paramedics and emergency medical technicians killed on the job.
