CARLYLE — (AP) — Athletes from Illinois high schools and the Special Olympics are teaming up for a fishing tournament.

In a news release, the Illinois High School Association says a bass fishing tournament will be held on Carlyle Lake in Carlyle this Friday and Saturday.

The IHSA conducted the first high school bass fishing state tournament in the country in 2009. The upcoming tournament is being held in conjunction with the IHSA Bass Fishing State Finals marks the first unified tournament held by the IHSA and the Special Olympics Illinois.

Students from four high schools — Huntley, Maine South, Miles Notre Dame and Pontiac — will compete. Each boat will have a high school student, a Special Olympics athlete and a non-competing adult driver.
