JEFFERSON COUNTY — A new consolidated school district in Jefferson County has announced its name and mascot.

The new school formed by the consolidation of Dodds and Ina grade schools will be called Spring Garden Consolidated School District #178 and its mascot will be the Hawks. Dodds had been the Wildcats and Ina the Hornets.

The consolidation over the summer will include 237 students and at least 17 teachers. The new school will need to hire additional teachers and staff, but how many remains a question.

The decision also remains on how both facilities will be ulitized, either as grade level attendance centers, or as separate K-8 centers.
