Norma Lawson

ODIN — Norma Lawson, 87, passed away May 13, 2015 in Chester.

Ms. Lawson was born on August 17, 1927 to Sherman and Dorothy (nee Donoho) Pursley. She married Willard Grubbs on June 21, 1944 in Salem, by Reverend Oscar Hawhim. After Willard passed away she married Lester Lawson on June 14, 1972. He Nana(1)later proceeded her in death.

She and her late husband Willard owned and operated the “Grubb’s Café” in Odin for many years. Norma also owned and operated “The Yarn Barn” in Wamac.

Ms. Lawson was a Christian, baptized at Chester’s First Baptist Church, a member of the Elks, and an all-around incredibly classy lady who never met a sweet she did not like. Nana did not have an account on FaceBook, Instagram, Snap Chat, or Twitter, yet somehow she still managed to live a rich and full life. She will be greatly missed by her family a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck.

Norma was proceeded in death by her parents; two husbands; two children Mike Grubbs and Debbie Fogerson; her sister Marnell Harnden-Mayes; and her brother Bob Pursley.

She is survived by her sister Susie Kimmel and husband Quinton; grandchildren Dr. Michael Fogerson and wifePam , Jerry Fogerson, Norma Torrence and husband Mike, and Amber Roldan and husband Art; reat-grandchildren Lake Fogerson, Ridge Fogerson, Jerrod Fogerson, Hannah Fogerson, Kimberly Belford, Zachary Bray, Madissen Torrence, Hayden Torrence, and Liv Torrence; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 18, 2015 at the Irvin Macz Funeral Home in Odin.

Friends may call from 8:30-11 a.m. Monday morning at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Peaceful Valley Cemetery in Odin, Illinois with Brother Don Berry officiating.
