Lawmaker Resists Rauner Cash

SPRINGFIELD — Not all the Republicans in the General Assembly are cashing the checks being spread around by Governor Bruce Rauner.

Rauner has distributed four-hundred-thousand-dollars from his political warchest to GOP lawmakers who will back his so-called “turnaround agenda,” that includes a number of anti-union efforts and extensive government changes.

State Senator Karen McConnaughay of McHenry County has turned down Rauner’s contribution because of the timing, coming as it does in the midst of the legislative session.
