MARION — Marion Police, Illinois State Police, and the Department of Children and Family Services are investigating of a 10-month-old girl.

The Marion Police Department was notified just after 5 a.m. Wednesday about a baby that was unresponsive. The child was taken to Heartland Regional Medical Center where she was pronounced dead a short time later.

The cause of death has not yet been determined. An autopsy is scheduled.

Authorities say the 10-month-old was in foster care at the time of her death. She had reportedly been cared for by the foster family since birth.

The girl’s father, Issac Hill told WSIL-TV that since he lost custody of the baby, DCFS has documented incidents of child abuse against his children at the hands of foster parents.

The Williamson County coroner has scheduled an autopsy for Thursday.
