MARION — Details surrounding a hostage situation last month in Marion have been released, with authorities saying the hostage in the incident was shot by a police officer during the standoff.

According to Williamson County State’s Attorney Brandon Zanotti, 27-year-old Joshua Green, of Marion held a woman against her will for several hours during the April 28, incident. Green refused to surrender and was shot and killed when he fired at officers.

Authorities have identified the hostage as Samantha Holmes. They say she was injured in the exchange of gunfire.

The name of the officer is not being revealed, but according to Zanotti, no charges will be filed against the officer who accidently shot Holmes.

Holmes is out of the hospital and in stable condition but may require more treatment for her injuries in the future, Zanotti said.

Five Marion officers were placed on paid leave immediately following the shooting. All five returned to duty last week.
